The 2019 tournament will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates and will take place between 5 January and 1 February. This will be the second time that the UAE hosts the Asian Cup after it hosted the 1996 finals which were won by Saudi Arabia. The tournament has been expanded to include 24 teams, allowing several nations to compete against the big names of the Asian Cup like Japan and South Korea. As there are more times, the format of the 2019 Asian Cup will see six groups of four teams, after the Group Stage the top two teams from each group will progress to the Last 16 and the knockout stage of the tournament.

Asian Cup history
The first ever Asian Cup was held in Hong Kong in 1956, two years after the Asian Football Confederation was founded. South Korea were the first ever winners of the tournament and they would also win the 1960 Cup as well. In 1968 the tournament expanded to include five teams and then, between 2005-2015 the tournament would include sixteen teams.
The most successful nations in Asian Cup history are Japan with four titles (1992, 2000, 2004, 2011), Saudi Arabia (1984, 1988, 1996) and Iran (1968, 1972, 1976) both have three titles, South Korea (1956, 1960) have two titles, while Israel (1964), Kuwait (1980), Australia (2015) and Iraq (2007) all have one title each.
Australia, the Socceroos, have only appeared in three Asian Cups and have already competed in two finals, losing to Japan in 2011 before defeating South Korea in the 2015 final in Sydney.
Asian Cup final 2019
The final of the Asian Cup will be held on 1 February at Abu Dhabi's Zayed Sports City Stadium. The stadium is the largest in the UAE and has a capacity of 43,000 spectators.
